Start Date:8/1/2009 9:00 A.M.

In celebration of the International Year of Astronomy in 2009, the Frazier International History Museum is partnering with the University of Louisville Libraries & Jefferson Community and Technical College to bring fi rst-edition books written by two ground-breaking scientists to the public. Come see the authentic, radical works of Copernicus and Galileo at the Frazier Museum August 1, 2009 through January 3, 2010.

If you doubt how pivotal the work of these two innovators is, consider this… At this very second, you are rushing through space at an astonishing 800 miles per hour as the Earth speeds along its yearly revolution around the Sun. It’s hard to imagine a time when scholars and educated people once believed the opposite was true. So, how did scientists discover what is now considered common knowledge? …How did they calculate the Earth’s speed? …What makes the Earth move? People spent centuries staring into the night sky, pondering these very questions. But, these very innovative scientists dedicated their lives to fi nding the truth. Come see the books that literally changed the world as we know it. This exhibition is free with museum admission.
